Thanks for your in-depth opinion on this article. As I'm sure you are aware classing particular bands as emo or screamo can be a nightmare.
I do agree this article could be refreshed though with more recent developments.

Research on the genre of each of the bands your using as reference might be a good idea. It's all too clear at some points through out the 'guide' that you may have written it without much forethought.
I criticise not your writing skills, nor your information on certain matters included in the guide, however, numerous bands you sighted would rather not be associated with the emo tag, not because of any negative feedback it may give, but because the reality is that they don't play emo music.
Of the bands you named, only My Chemical Romance, Aiden, Dashboard Confessional, Underoath, Chiodos and From First To Last might accept the tags placed on them.
All of the other bands, especially those in the later stages of the guide, would be more appropriately named in guides about Punk, Alternative or Metal guides, especially in certain cases, where the assosciation is little more than the bands name.
I say this for two reasons only. One, if you wished to improve the guide, for informational purposes, as i searched this site for, then maybe taking some time and really looking at modern day emo and screamo music, especially as Indie-Emo is a non-existent genre.
The second is if you did research into some of the bands you have sighted, you may come across more ideal bands that would suit your guides needs, especially in bands breaking through now and in the last few years, as they have been heavily influenced by the emo and screamo culture.
Finally, the last step may be to add a small section about the recent development of modern emo music. As more and more bands appear onto the music scene, large amounts have been influenced by emo bands, but bring a new genre. Hardcore bands such as Asking Alexandria and Attack!Attack! use screamo and hardcore elements mixed with techno interludes.
And so could we not see an emo culture that is forming a section of society that is no longer ridiculed, that can be more easily accepted?
As a fan of all music, and a supporter of emo music especially, i hope the day comes soon that numerous styles of rock are accepted, and maybe, as more and more people are brought up into a society filled with so much passion for musical acceptance, we may find that emo finds a place of higher support.

Hey matt, this is a pretty good segment; I'm glad you mentioned both the new and old movements and respected bands of the time periods.
Only one thing, you included Saetia on your list of San Diego bands (along with Heroin and Swing Kids), but Saetia was from New York not Southern California and formed in the late 90's whereas the super famous San Diego screamo/emo bands were gone by 1996/1997.
